Opening
"To make people free is the aim of art, therefore art to me is the science of freedom." - Joseph Beuys
Victoria Libertore's original performance art combines theater, dance, and burlesque
in her trademark style of combining humor, sensuality and a touch of the inappropriate.
Her performance explodes stereotypes as she encompasses both female and male characters,
including lip-synching to Frank Sinatra as a lush, performing a striptease to jazz while
hula hooping, and surprising the audience with a reverse strip into drag.
Her work explores the banished aspects within each of us, including archetypes such as the
crone, drunk, gigolo and Goddess. The world she creates is slightly askew, sometimes eerie,
but always strangely real and profoundly funny.
